"A Drink Review"

Last weekend, I visited my hometown, Cebu City, Philippines, located south of the Philippines. I had a task for that weekend, and that was to drink cocktails. It sounds like
a very easy task but it's not. You have to really cherish the drink in order for you to experience its true taste. I went to a restaurant called the "MOOON Cafe", I ordered a non- alcoholic drink called the "Shirley Temple", when the waiter served it to me, I found the drink so mouth watering that I took a sip immediately. The drink was colored red and had a cherry floating inside. Shirley Temple is made up of cherry syrup mixed with sprite, ice and cherry inside. The drink tasted really sweet. The drink is not that expensive because the restaurant itself did not really cater an expensive menu, the drink only costed me PHP 68.00, that's a really affordable price for a non-alcoholic cocktail. I visited another restaurant in Cebu called "Mesa". Mesa is a modern Filipino restaurant, which serves great food and mouth-watering drinks. I ordered a Lemon Margarita, I know it's a lady's drink, but I was with a lady friend of mine. The drink tasted good, the amount of alcohol placed was perfect, and the temperature of the cocktail was just right. I actually liked the drink. Lemon Margarita is made up of alcohol, lemon juice, lemon fruit, salt and ice. The price was average but the taste of the drink was above average giving me a good drinking experience.

"Fiesta and Familia", Family Traditions.

The living area in my grandparents' place.

Every second sunday of September in Danao City, Cebu celebrates its fiesta. The whole family gathers in my grandparents' estate, and what usually happens is that the cousins gather up in the living area, and we usually talk about any topic that we can think of, we laugh, we enjoy, and we value the chance of being reunited since it only happens sometimes. My grandparents' always prepare food for us, and for the guests that they usually invite. The dish that I always remember is the "lechon". I always remember this because when I was a kid, I slept in my grandparents' place and I suddenly woke up because of a pig's screech, it was being slaughtered; the next day, I was so curios so I decided to go outside and check on the pig, I saw the whole pig on a bamboo stick, and I knew it was being "lechoned". The family has special home-made spices that are added to the lechon to make it tastier. The celebration usually starts at lunch time and ends past dinner. My grandparents' and their children bond every time they come home. It makes me happy seeing my mom and her siblings bond with their parents because I know that my parents really miss them a lot. I am going home to Cebu next week and I can't wait to experience the yearly fiesta because I miss seeing my relatives, and I miss spending time with them.

"Casa Verde", A burger review

"Casa Verde Restaurant"

There is a place in Cebu City, Philippines called the "Casa Verde", it used to be the house of the owner but now it is transformed into a restaurant. It is located in the heart of Cebu City which is in the bustling streets of downtown Cebu. From the airport, it would take you 45 minutes to reach this place. This place is famous for their steaks, baby back ribs and burgers. Once you get to this place, it would make you wonder if it's still a house or a restaurant because of its physical structure. The burger that you should try is their "big bang burger", I'm not sure how big it is but it's definitely the biggest burger that I've seen in my life; it is probably is a big as a regular sized plate. The serving comes with the burger including its contents such as lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup, special sauce, mayo, mustard and other vegetables which I forgot what they are called. The serving also comes with thick potato fries, which are made by Casa Verde themselves. The burger tastes like a mixture of spices and meat; I don't really know how to describe its taste but it sure is one hell of a burger. The burger will cost you about PHP 475.00 - PHP 500.00depending on your add-ons for the burger. The "big bang burger" is best paired with coca cola products. After visiting this place, you would want to come back because of its outstanding entrees and services. If you plan to visit the place, it is located in #69 Lim Tian Teng Street, Cebu City, Philippines.

Video Games and the Youth

As a child, I have seen the development of the different aspects of technology rise up to further modernize the world. One of the modern technology inventions that really took part in my life were video games; it really took part of my life because I love getting entertained, I mean don't we all do? it is a part of life. Video games is a way for me to be inspired with life because it boosts up a part of my needs in life, it is also a way for me to escape reality and relax my self when I indulge to it. One issue that I'd like to discuss would be more on the positive aspects of video games, such as the youth would see the answers from their curiosities through simulation games like "The Sims 3", this game allows you to control simulated people, which would allow you to do whatever you want them to do such as fall in love, build a family, be a business man, be a criminal and more, and through this game; it allows players to see what would happen in real life if they have seen it happen in the game, an example would be the player would have a simulated character that would have numerous wives and numerous children, after the player sees what would happen in the game, he would be aware that having numerous wives and numerous children is a very hard task to do in real life, and he would try his best to avoid it since he has already seen the result through the game. Another example of answering curiosities that people have would be from the game "X-Plane Simulator Demo", this game allows players to see what would happen if they would fly a real plane. Most aviation schools use this simulation game to avoid plane crashes, and it is used for the aspiring pilots to be more prepared before flying an actual aircraft. These games could help the youth generate ideas to develop the world for upcoming generations. In conclusion, video games help shape the growth of a child because through video games, the information given are almost 100% accurate, examples of these informations are from interactive knowledge games such as "Jumpstart", this game interactively educates children even if they are not in school. Finally, I would highly recommend simulation games to the youth because it is an invention that helped students increase their knowledge in a particular aspect in education, and it is very interesting because it tells you what will happen if you do something in the game, and that could apply to real life.

"Always Open", The Bar. (New Media)

"The Bar"
"Endorsers of this product"

In the past two years, a beverage company in the Republic of the Philippines launched
a new line of affordable alcohol that serves as an alternative to beer. The product is called
"The Bar", it has numerous variations such as Apple Vodka, Orange Vodka, Strawberry
Vodka and Lemon Lime Gin. These products are suitable for the young adults and the
citizens from the lower class of society because of its cheap price. One bottle of this
alcohol costs for only "60.00 Philippine Pesos" that is equivalent to a dollar and a
few cents" In media, the beverage company hired two endorsers for their product,
namely Jake Cuenca, popular actor and Angelica Panganiban,a famous actress.
These two endorsers portray a state of pure happiness, a sense of belonging a
and a product that is user-friendly. The two endorsers portray themselves as "hot"
people wearing party outfits because that will surely get everyones attention;
both male and female. People would tend to believe what these star icons say even
if we all know that it is not entirely true. In conclusion, Media is very powerful in
making an image for a product. Media also tends to exaggerate a product or an endorser,
and that's what makes them known.

Levis, Live Unbuttoned Commercial.

Levis commercial (click here)

Levis, a popular brand of quality jeans released a commercial that a lot of people loved. The Levis commercial is all about a guy and a girl standing together on top of a wharf dock. The guy says sweet things to the girl, and asks her if she has tried jumping off a wharf before. The guy and the girl gets undressed; they counted 1..2..3.. then they both jumped and made out underwater. Before they jumped, the guy held the girl's hand and tells her to trust him. This commercial appeals to me because it's something unusual; it is very uncommon. This commercial shows some thrill to life. It's effective meta-information because it motivates me to take risks in life. The commercial portrayed trust, risk and love.
